As her young niece is pulled from the flames, Rose can't believe how lucky Lily was to be spared while her parents were so cruelly taken away.

In their shared grief, Rose and Lily find solace at the allotment gardens that have sprung up across their local park, where volunteers grow vegetables to aid the war effort.

With each day spent at the garden, Lily slowly begins to heal. But Rose is keeping a secret. One that could, once more, turn Lily's life upside down...
