Aulen identifies three main types of Atonement theories: the 'classic' view commonly known as 'Ransom Theory'; the 'Latin' or 'objective' view, commonly known as 'Satisfaction' or 'Penal Substitution Theory', and the 'subjective' view, often known as the 'Moral Influence' theory.
